We’ve Taken Security to a Higher Level for PCU Home Banking
In January 2008, we launched a new security enhancement that protects your online account with an even higher level of security. It’s an online identity verification system, known in the industry as Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), and it is designed to give our members online security and peace of mind.
Our new system provides a distinctive way for you to know, without doubt, that you have logged into Campbell Employees Federal Credit Union PCU Home Banking and for us to know that it is YOU who has logged on to your account. So, if anything out of the ordinary is detected, such as using a different computer than you normally use, we will ask you to verify your identity. You will know it’s us, and we will know it’s you.
How does it work?
Users of PCU Home Banking have always been required to authenticate themselves to gain access by entering a User ID and Password. Now, PCU Home Banking will reciprocate and will also authenticate itself to you. This authentication is referred to as “PassMark.” When you visit one of our branches, you know our faces and we know yours. PassMark does the same thing over the Internet. It is a new method to identify us to you and you to us.
At the initial login, we will ask you to choose a unique PassMark Image from an online library and create a short text phrase. This PassMark Image and Phrase will be known only to you. When you log on in the future, we’ll show you your Image and Phrase so you can rest assured that you are accessing Campbell Employees FCU and not any other site. Additionally, at the initial login, we will ask you to register the answers to several security questions you have chosen. If anything out of the ordinary is detected when you login, such as using a different computer than you normally use, we will ask you to answer one of these security questions. We’ve introducing this security enhancement, so you’ll know it’s us and we’ll know it’s you.
Do you need to sign up? Yes. The new online security system is integrated into our PCU Home Banking system and applies to all of our registered members. When prompted, members will need to choose their PassMark and security questions. Once this occurs, you have added a new layer of protection to your account.
