To protect yourself when purchasing a vehicle thru an Internet auction site, you should:

1) Determine that the car actually exists by seeing it yourself;

2) Determine that the seller owns the car by comparing the car title to the seller's ID;

3) Make sure the car title is unencumbered, that is, there are no loans using the car as collateral.
